Insurance occupation lists can be awkward. Choose the description that best matches what you really do, and ask the insurer if the available choices do not fit.
A new job can change how the car is used
Starting to commute, travelling between workplaces or carrying work equipment may alter the class of use you need.
Business use is not the same as commuting
Driving to one normal place of work is commonly treated differently from using the car to travel for work during the day. If the new role involves visiting customers or sites, discuss it.
Do not pick a similar-sounding job purely because it is cheaper. Premium differences between occupations can tempt people to choose a nearby description. The test is whether the description is true, not whether it produces a better quote.
Ask about the cost before accepting the change
A mid-term adjustment can change the premium and may include an administration charge. Get the revised amount and terms before assuming what the effect will be.
